The office of the President of Ukraine published the names of the clergy of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, who were sanctioned by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Earlier it became known that Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree “On certain aspects of the activities of religious organizations in Ukraine and the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures.” Then the Ukrainian media mentioned two people who fell under the sanctions. This is the ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Vadim Novinsky and the governor of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Pavel (Lebed).
Now an appendix to the decree has been published, where specific personalities are specified. Among them are Rostislav Shvets (Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimean Russian Orthodox Church), Oleg Ivanov (Metropolitan of Izyum and Kupyansk UOC), Peter Lebed (vicar of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra of the UOC, Metropolitan of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl) and seven other clergy.
Among the restrictive measures are the restriction, partial or complete cessation of the transit of resources, flights and transportation through the territory of Ukraine, the restriction of trade operations, the blocking of assets, the suspension of economic and financial obligations, as well as the termination of educational contacts, cultural exchanges, entertainment programs with foreign countries. Restrictions are introduced for a period of five years.
