Zelensky’s advisor compared the conflict in Ukraine to a 100-meter race

The conflict in Ukraine can be compared to a 100 m race, 70 m of which Kyiv has already “ran”. This statement was made by the head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office, Andriy Ermak, in an interview with a journalist on the 1+1 TV channel.

“If we compare it with the 100 m race, then I think that we have already run 70 m. But these last 30 [метров] will be the most difficult,” he said (quote according to TASS).

At the same time, Ermak could not say when the fighting will end, since the process is influenced by “many factors.” According to him, this could happen “suddenly.”

November 8, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stated at a Reuters conference that Kyiv intends to continue fighting against Russian troops, despite difficulties with a counteroffensive and the fact that Western leaders are preoccupied with the conflict in the Middle East. He promised to “show results this year.”

In the Kremlin remindedthat many previous promises of the Ukrainian authorities did not come true. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that it is time for the Ukrainian side to understand that it will not be able to defeat Russia on the battlefield. Only after this can the prerequisites arise for resolving the situation through “political and diplomatic means.” Now there are no such prerequisites, and therefore Russia continues the special operation, he added.

Previously, Moscow has repeatedly emphasized its readiness for negotiations with Ukraine. This process is hampered by a decree signed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in October 2022 on the refusal to negotiate with Russia while Vladimir Putin is its president, the Kremlin explained.
