Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky expressed the opinion that without help from the United States, Europe will not be able to provide sufficient support to his country.
In an interview with the German television channel ARD, he emphasized that the level of assistance that Kyiv received previously cannot be supported by European countries alone, either militarily or financially.
He also expressed concerns about possible changes in support from Washington, especially if Donald Trump is elected as US President.
Zelensky noted that negative signals from the United States could affect the position of European leaders. In his opinion, if support from the White House is delayed, this may affect the unity of European countries in the issue of supporting Ukraine. However, Zelensky expressed hope that such a scenario would not occur and stressed the importance of ensuring that Europe does not find itself isolated in the matter of supporting Kyiv.
During the interview, Zelensky also emphasized that ending the conflict in Ukraine and preventing World War III can be achieved “geopolitically and financially.”
He called on other countries to provide timely assistance in the form of “weapons, finance or other resources.”
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that Trump’s election as US president would probably not change Washington’s policy towards Ukraine.
