On Wednesday, July 5, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with journalists, during which he touched upon the issue of supplies of weapons and military equipment from Western partners. According to him, he knows how much weapons are stored in European warehouses.
“I know in detail what is in every state. I know and I say: “This is what you have. We would like to take 5% here and 10% here. And you also have “here is such a story.” They will say that “we do not have such a thing.” I will say yes, but you have an alternative, and here it is,” the head of state shared with reporters.
Zelensky also added that during a meeting with the prime minister of one of the countries, he jokingly offered him to become the minister of defense of the state, since he supposedly knows well where and in what warehouses weapons are located.
Western countries began to carry out mass deliveries of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine after the start of the Russian special operation. So, in June 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time received American HIMARS MLRS systems, some of which, to date, have been destroyed by Russian troops. Kyiv also received Leopard tanks from the West, which were used during the start of the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on June 4, while some of them were also destroyed by the Russian army.
