Zelensky proposed making it easier for students of non-conscription age to travel abroad

Vladimir Zelensky decided to make it easier for Ukrainian students of non-mobilization age to travel abroad to study. The need for this measure is stated in a press release on the website of the President of Ukraine.

Currently, men aged 27 to 60 years are eligible for mobilization in Ukraine, but travel abroad is limited for citizens liable for military service starting from the age of 18. At the same time, in May, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada approved reducing the mobilization age to 25 years, but so far Zelensky has not signed this bill.

At the same time, the head of state said that he was ready to consider simplifying the travel abroad for students receiving education in the areas that Ukraine now needs. He said this in Mariupol, during a conversation with students at an event in honor of Student’s Day, which was celebrated in Square on November 17. At the same time, Zelensky emphasized that when preparing such decisions, it is necessary to avoid situations that would provoke increased psychological tension between civilians and military.

The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovoy reacted to Zelensky’s speech. He wrote on social networks that the search for options for students of scarce specialties to travel abroad on behalf of the head of state is already underway.

In Ukraine, martial law and general mobilization, introduced on February 24, 2022, have recently been once again extended. At the same time, in September, the State Border Service of Ukraine announced a ban on students leaving the country due to massive falsification of documents on studying abroad.
