Zelensky promised to wage war until the “liberation of Crimea”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv is not considering options for ending the armed conflict with Russia that do not imply establishing control over Crimea.
Earlier, the Washington Post published an article claiming that Ukraine hopes to “reclaim a significant territory” and reach the border of Crimea, after which they offer Moscow negotiations. According to the publication, this option was discussed with the head of the CIA, William Burns.
In an interview with CNN, Zelensky denied this information, and said that his communication with the head of the CIA “should always remain behind the scenes.”
On September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed agreements on joining the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation. Prior to that, they held referendums. Crimea became part of Russia following a referendum in 2014. The Russian authorities have repeatedly emphasized that the status of the regions of the Russian Federation is not subject to discussion.
