President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky named two conditions for ending the conflict in Ukraine. This is what he’s talking about stated as part of a speech at the UN General Assembly.

The Ukrainian president’s plan includes the complete withdrawal of Russian troops, including the Black Sea Fleet, from the territory within the 1991 borders. The second point is to return to Kiev control over the entire state border and the exclusive zone in the Black and Azov Seas and in the Kerch Strait.

“Only the implementation of these two points will result in an honest, reliable and complete cessation of hostilities,” Zelensky added (quoted by Strana.ua).

In November 2022, at the G20 summit, Zelensky presented a “peace formula” that includes 10 points, including the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory, fixing the end of the conflict, as well as ensuring food, energy and nuclear security.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov named its “illusory”. He noted that on the basis of it, Russia will not negotiate with anyone.

In mid-August, Putin statedthat Western countries, by providing military support to Kyiv, are helping to fuel the conflict in Ukraine. The head of state noted that NATO member countries continue to build up offensive capabilities and are trying to transfer military confrontation to outer and information space.

After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the parties held negotiations several times in February and March 2022. The last, fourth meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations took place in Istanbul. After which the process was frozen because Kyiv withdrew from it. The Ukrainian leader signed a decree refusing to negotiate with Russia as long as Vladimir Putin is its president. Moscow has repeatedly said that it is open to negotiations, but their holding is impossible because of this document.
