Zelensky included new heads of the SBU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the National Security and Defense Council

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has included Vasily Malyuk and Igor Klymenko, new heads of the SBU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country, into the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). The decree was published on the website of the President’s office.
“I decide to introduce Igor Vladimirovich Klymenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, into the personal composition of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine; approve Vasily Vasilyevich Malyuk, head of the Security Service of Ukraine, as a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine,” the decree says.
The same decree from the National Security and Defense Council was withdrawn Klimenko’s predecessor is the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky, who died in a helicopter crash of the State Emergency Service in Brovary, Kyiv region.
Malyuk became acting head of the SBU after the ex-chairman of the department Ivan Bakanov was withdrawn from his post by Zelensky against the background of numerous facts of cooperation between his subordinates and Russia after the start of the special operation of the Russian Federation. Malyuk was his first deputy. Klymenko, prior to his appointment, served as head of the National Police.
The appointment of Maliuk and Klymenko was announced on February 6 by the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, David Arakhamia. February 7 both appointments approved Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. 324 deputies voted for Maliuk, 321 for Klymenko.
