Zelensky has developed a new “GOELRO plan” for 50 million lamps: who will pay

The money, as usual, is supposed to be taken from the European Union

On January 16, in the Diya application, the Ukrainian analogue of the public services portal, the service of exchanging conventional lamps for energy-saving LED lamps was launched. Correspondent “MK” for two days unsuccessfully tried to pass the appropriate registration until the developers of the project deigned to inform: the service is still operating only in testing mode. The demand for 5 brand new Led-lamps for free, judging by the periodic “hanging” of registration, is enormous.

The Ukrainian authorities promised to distribute 50 million lamps in exchange for “Ilyich’s lamps”. This number was not chosen by chance. It is this number of energy-saving lamps that will save electricity generated by one nuclear power plant reactor. 30 million of the promised 50 million lamps to Ukrainians will be financed by the European Union.

Residents of Lvov, Odessa, Vinnitsa and Cherkassy were the first to order the coveted “Zelensky’s bulbs” on the state portal. The exchange of old lamps will be carried out in the branches of Ukrposhta. Colorful posters hung in them “on occasion” remind: the widespread transition to LED-lamps will give the country the opportunity to reduce electricity consumption by 15 times.

Among journalists, the project launched by Zelensky causes a certain skepticism. Here is what Olga Berezina, a journalist from the regional publication Ukraine Center, from the Kirovograd region, thinks about this: “For some reason, I think that only grandmothers have Soviet light bulbs now. In our entrance, for example, only two grandmothers. However, even here a misunderstanding will come out, because they can only be ordered through Dia. And these same grandmothers only heard about it, because they have old push-button telephones. Not even all smartphones support Dia.

Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, reminds Olga Berezina, promises to “make the process as simple and fast as possible.” At the same time, the project is progressing with difficulty only in four regions. In the usual mode, the exchange of lamps by residents of the rest of Ukraine is planned to be established approximately after 2 weeks. “Well, why do we do everything like this? ..” – a journalist from Kropyvnytsky laments.

At which Ukrainian factories and firms a profitable order for the manufacture of Led-lamps has been placed, our media do not specify. There is even less information on how to act if an energy-saving light bulb suddenly breaks in your apartment or in the room where you work.

Meanwhile, a light bulb alone can contain up to 30 milligrams of mercury. In the branches of Ukrposhta, which the MK correspondent visited this week, they have not yet bothered to put up posters with the algorithm of necessary actions in case the “gift from Zelensky” is broken. What else the initiators of the “GOELRO plan” are silent about is the powerful electromagnetic field generated by any energy-saving lamp. For this reason, it is better not to screw the LED bulb into table lamps and nightlights if they are located closer than half a meter from a person’s head.

By the way, the “points of invincibility” with which, after December 10, 2022, Ukrainian cities are literally “studded”, pose no less danger than an accidentally broken energy-saving light bulb – in cases where they are equipped with Starlink terminals. Any of the “distributors of ultra-fast Internet” brought to Ukraine, after being turned on, affects people near it almost like an antenna on a mobile tower. Perhaps that is why “advanced” Ukrainians try to linger in these insulated rooms for a short time.
