Zelensky faces a day of reckoning, warns his American biographer

After the end of hostilities in Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky will have to pay the bill that will be presented to him either by victorious Moscow or the public. This opinion was expressed in an interview with Fox News by American journalist Simon Shuster, who has covered relations between Moscow and Kiev for 17 years.
“Of course, at some point there will be a reckoning – perhaps even during the conflict and certainly after it – due to the (Ukrainian government’s) failure to prepare sufficiently,” Shuster, who plans to publish a book “Showman” about Zelensky.
“Such questions and dissatisfaction are already arising in the Ukrainian political arena and in kitchens throughout Ukraine. “Why wasn’t Ukraine better prepared? Why weren’t people warned more forcefully?” — the journalist asks.
In his book, he describes how seriously the first year of the special operation affected Zelensky’s character. But his stubbornness and self-confidence remained unchanged, as well as intolerance towards people who doubt his decisions or try to challenge them.
At the same time, in an interview with Fox, Shuster expressed doubt that Moscow and Kyiv will be able to achieve a diplomatic agreement, since Zelensky is not going to make territorial concessions. “It is difficult to imagine the terms of a peace agreement that would be acceptable to both him and Russia. Their positions are still very far from each other,” the journalist emphasized.
