Zelensky complained about the West’s sanctions pause against Russia

Western countries have delayed too much in introducing a new round of restrictions against Russia. This statement was made by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Friday, September 8.
The politician met with members of the sanctions group working under the leadership of Andrei Ermak and Michael McFaul and listened to a report on its work.
According to Zelensky, “we see too long a sanctions pause on the part of our partners,” although it is necessary to strengthen restrictions against the Russian energy industry, tighten restrictions on the supply of microchips and block Russia’s finances.
The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, previously said that EU countries are currently working on introducing sanctions regarding the Russian diamond industry. According to him, representatives of EU countries are now working to block ways to circumvent anti-Russian restrictions.
Kyiv, meanwhile, demands that existing and introduce new sanctions against Russiarejecting the idea of easing restrictions even for the sake of resuming the grain deal and solving the global food problem.
