Zelensky asks Finland for F-18 fighter jets

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky asked Finland to transfer the 4th generation F-18 (Hornet) fighters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He said this at a press conference with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo in Kyiv.
Finland is now decommissioning these fighters. Zelensky noted that Kyiv “takes everything they give.”
“We are ready to learn from everything that floats or flies. If Finland does not need F-18s, then let’s, we [возьмем] with pleasure,” he said.
Zelensky added that Ukraine gives priority to the F-16 because of their mass character, but at the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ready to take “any type of aircraft.”
