Zakharova warned Poland against building a military center in Ukraine

The construction of a military field training center on the territory of Ukraine will draw Poland into the conflict. This statement was made by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“The fact that this is fraught with the direct involvement of Poland in the Ukrainian conflict does not seem to bother anyone in Warsaw, much less in Kiev,” she said (quote according to TASS).

Zakharova recalled that military facilities in Ukraine are a legitimate target for the Russian army. According to the diplomat, Warsaw continues its “creeping development” of Ukraine. She added that the creation of the previously announced “Polish Volunteer Legion” is necessary for Poland to control the authorities and security forces in Western Ukraine. Zakharova noted that the military center will increase the number of this group.

Thus, the diplomat commented on the publication of the Ukrainian media about the plans of the Polish company “Lyubava” to build a military field training center in the Volyn region of Ukraine. The base is designed for 600 Ukrainian soldiers.

On February 16, the Polish edition of Onet announced the beginning of the formation in Ukraine of the first Polish special unit as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The next day, Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Jablonski declined to comment on the publication, emphasizingthat the Polish military does not take part in the hostilities in Ukraine. He explained that Warsaw supplies military equipment to Kyiv, helps to train the military, and also sends humanitarian aid.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to the Ukrainian army. In particular, Zakharova warned that pumping up Ukraine with weapons would bring NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.
