Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova threatened to replace French goods with Russian analogues due to statements by the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo. The day before, the mayor said that Russian and Belarusian athletes would not be welcome in Paris.

“What do you think, maybe we should pick up some French products, which are now widely represented in Russia, and say that “they won’t be happy with them”? So far, French goods are not labeled with “we are not welcome in Moscow” stickers, but I know that our activists cannot be stopped if they make such a decision,” Maria Zakharova wrote in Telegram.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo makes her statement did during a visit to Ukraine. She also expressed support for the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian athletes.

According to Ms. Zakharova, after “another such statement,” representatives of French business, following farmers, will storm the Paris City Hall, since Russia has a huge selection of analogues of French goods.

Let us remind you that the Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11. Russian and Belarusian athletes can compete as neutrals in the individual competition as long as they are not affiliated with Russian security forces and have not spoken out in support of the fighting in Ukraine.
