Zakharova reminded the United States that they have nothing to do with the Black Sea

Maria Zakharova, director of the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, commented on the US statement about its intention to prepare a strategy for the Black Sea. The Russian diplomat stressed that America, as it used to be a state that does not belong to the Black Sea territory, remains so to this day.

“Earlier, the United States was not considered a Black Sea state. Perhaps something has changed in their minds. Maybe they believe that the Kiev regime has already provided them with such an opportunity. In our understanding, the United States does not go to the Black Sea, ”said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry during a briefing.

At the same time, Zakharova noted that Moscow very often sees US attempts to develop plans for regions that are not represented there in any way.

It is worth noting that earlier US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced plans to prepare a strategy for the Black Sea region by June. He added that all three countries related to the Black Sea are members of NATO.

Recall that on March 14 over the Black Sea there was an incident with a Russian Su-27 fighter and an American MQ-9 Reaper drone, as a result of which the second fell into international waters. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the crew of the Russian Aerospace Forces did not use airborne weapons, and also did not come into contact with the UAV. Despite this, White House spokesman John Kirby said that the United States will continue to fly over the Black Sea and “gather intelligence.”
