Zakharova: in the event of a break in relations with Poland, citizens of Russia will suffer

Moscow has the right to take the path of severing diplomatic relations with Poland, but the first to suffer from such a decision, according to her, Russian citizens, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

“Who is the first to suffer from such decisions? People, citizens, and I am not talking about the citizens of Poland, among whom there are many people who perfectly understand what is happening now. I’m talking about our citizens who live there, work there, who have families,” said Zakharova on the air of the program “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” on the TV channel “Russia-1” (quote from TASS).

Zakharova also pointed out that people who leave the territory of Ukraine through Poland also need help. “Execution of documents, issuance of certificates, confirmation of their status. This is a huge job,” she explained.

On April 29 in Warsaw, local authorities and police broke into the school building at the Russian Embassy and demanded that employees leave it, because last year Poland decided to transfer this property to the state. Ambassador Sergei Andreev then said that Moscow would find another building for the school, and the diplomatic mission would ensure the normal completion of the school year and the passing of exams. Today, he said that the institution can resume work from May 10.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the invasion of the Polish authorities on the territory of the school at the Russian Embassy will not remain without a harsh reaction, and Moscow considers the incident as an encroachment on Russian diplomatic property in Poland. Against the backdrop of the incident, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that he sees no point in maintaining diplomatic relations with Poland.

“This state should not exist for us as long as there is no one but Russophobes in power, and Ukraine is full of Polish mercenaries who must be ruthlessly exterminated like stinking rats,” Medvedev wrote on Twitter in English and Polish.

In March last year, Polish courts ruled on the transfer to the state treasury of two real estate objects in Russia, including the building of a secondary school at the Russian embassy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland reported that these are objects that are not used for diplomatic or consular purposes.
