The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responded to the proposal of the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko, addressed to the monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) to become schismatics.

“In direct text, without any embarrassment, the Kiev regime voiced the criminal logic,” the diplomat’s post reads. In her opinion, it is as follows: “Freedom of religion in Ukraine is being held hostage by bandits on Bankova Street.” Tkachenko suggested that the monks of the UOC could stay in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra if they transfer to the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).
The Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is one of the first monasteries in Kievan Rus. One of the most important Orthodox shrines, the third lot of the Virgin.
