The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, demanded that international organizations condemn the execution of Russian prisoners by the Ukrainian military, should from a statement from the Foreign Office.
“We demand that international organizations condemn this egregious crime and conduct a thorough investigation into it. Every atrocity committed by Ukrainian armed groups will not go unpunished. All those responsible and involved in the crimes will be identified and will suffer a well-deserved punishment,” the diplomat said.
According to her, the Russian side has repeatedly drawn the attention of the international community to the cruel and inhuman treatment of the Ukrainian side towards the detained Russian military personnel, but the evidence of the crimes was ignored by the collective West.
Earlier, two videos appeared on Telegram channels, which allegedly depicted the execution of Russian prisoners of war by soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry called these shots a confirmation of the “knuckle-blowing essence of the current Kyiv regime.” The department stressed that this case is not the first war crime committed against Russian prisoners of war.
The Investigative Committee of Russia also opened a criminal case into the execution of Russian prisoners of war. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has begun studying the videos. The Ukrainian side did not give any comments on this matter.
Earlier in October, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case due to the shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine (APU) of the crossing in Kherson, which killed civilians. According to investigators, the citizens were moving from Kherson to the other side of the river when the Ukrainian military “deliberately attacked the crossing from the American HIMARS MLRS.” According to preliminary data, then 4 people died, 13 more were injured.
