Zakharova announced the arrival of Lavrov in New York

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has now arrived in New York, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

She noted that a meeting of the UN Security Council is scheduled for April 25, at which Lavrov will chair.

In addition, the participation of the Russian Foreign Minister in one of the key central events for the period of Russia’s chairmanship of the UN Security Council is scheduled for Monday. So, on April 24, debates are scheduled on the subject of protecting the principles of the UN Charter. Lavrov will also chair another high-level meeting of the UN Security Council – an open debate on the situation in the Middle East.

The plane carrying the Russian Foreign Minister flew to the US from Russia on Sunday. At the same time, the American side delayed the issuance of visas for the Russian delegation, including for Lavrov himself, and the journalists did not receive visas. Commenting on this situation, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia “will not forget and will not forgive” such an approach of the Americans. He also accused the United States of flagrantly abusing the status of the state hosting the UN headquarters.

At the same time, problems with issuing visas to Russian officials and journalists to enter the United States have been relevant for years. Earlier, the First Deputy Representative of Russia, Dmitry Polyansky, announced plans to launch arbitration against the American side of the United States on this issue, and other countries are also facing similar difficulties.
