Last week, an assassination attempt was made on Prilepin in the Nizhny Novgorod region by blowing up his car. The writer himself survived, the writer’s driver and colleague Alexander Shubin, who served in the Oplot battalion of the National Guard, died. Later, law enforcement officers detained a suspect who confessed to working for the Ukrainian special services, and the search for his possible accomplices continues. Later, the Russian Foreign Ministry published a statement on its website stating that the responsibility for the terrorist attack against Prilepin in the Nizhny Novgorod region lies not only with Ukraine, but also with the United States. The Foreign Ministry stated that it was Washington, after the events on the “Maidan” in 2014, that nurtured the “anti-Russian project” in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the absence of any statements or convictions on the fact of the attempt on the Russian writer by the United States is “self-revealing” for Washington.
