Young families in 2022 became the only category of Russians in which there was a frontal reduction in food consumption. RBC with reference to Rosstat Bulletin “Food Consumption in Households of the Russian Federation”.

According to the information of the agency, the amount of milk, fruits and butter decreased most of all in the diet of young families, less significantly – bread, meat, vegetables. It is also noted that young families in 2022 began to spend almost 30% of their income on food, before this figure was less than 25%.

In addition, according to Rosstat, in the Russian Federation there are categories of the population where food consumption over the past year, on the contrary, has grown, in particular, non-working pensioners are among this number.

Formerly Nielsen IQ analysts calculatedthat last year Russians sharply increased spending on food, but purchased less food quantitatively. It turned out that compared to 2021, in pieces, the volume of sales fell by 2.5%, while in money, on the contrary, it increased by 13%. Alcohol was the only category of food that showed growth both in kind and in monetary terms.
