The Russian sushi delivery chain Yobidoyobi has appealed against the court’s decision to change its name. About it informs “Kommersant”.
The company filed an appeal against the court decision, which satisfied the requirements of the Interdistrict Inspectorate of the Federal Tax Service No. 23 for the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The court ordered the company to change its legal name.
“The trade name of the company can cause a persistent association with an obscene word for an unlimited circle of people, which, in turn, is contrary to public interests, the principles of humanity and morality,” the statement of claim states.
“Yobidoyobi” believes that the name does not violate the norms of the law due to the fact that the name “is a lexeme of the Japanese language, translated as “Day of the week – Saturday”, which is why there is no similarity with the abusive profanity of the Russian language.”
In 2019, the company already had a lawsuit regarding the legal name, the co-founder of the company Konstantin Zimen spoke about this. The Soviet District Court then satisfied the claim of an individual, but Yobidoyobi appealed the decision to the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court.
