Yerevan allocated $100 million to support displaced people from Karabakh

The Armenian government has already allocated $100 million to support Armenians who left Nagorno-Karabakh after the Azerbaijani operation, Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan said on Facebook (part of Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

“At the moment, the government has allocated about $100 million to support our brothers and sisters, internally displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh,” he wrote.

Some of these funds have already reached the recipients, the other part will arrive in the coming months as part of various support programs, Pashinyan added.

On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” necessary for the “restoration of the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh. Baku demanded the dissolution of the Karabakh government and the withdrawal of Armenian troops. Yerevan denied the presence of its troops in the region.

The next day, the Karabakh authorities announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire, then negotiations took place between the delegation of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities. As a result of the meeting, the Karabakh military began to surrender their weapons under the control of Russian peacekeepers.

On September 28, the president of the unrecognized republic, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree on the termination of its existence from January 1, 2024 and the dissolution of all government institutions and organizations. Armenians began to leave the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to official data, Armenia has received more than 100,000 internally displaced persons from Karabakh. October 12 Pashinyan toldthat about 2,500 displaced people left Armenia, expressing hope for their return in the future.
