Yasnaya Polyana Prize announces new nominations – Kommersant

The co-founders of the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Prize, Leo Tolstoy’s Estate Museum and Samsung Electronics, have announced the shortlist for the Modern Russian Prose nomination, the main nomination for the 21st season of the award. It includes six works: Eduard Verkin “Dialogue: Snark Snark”, Jafarov Rahim “His Last Days”, Evgeny Kremchukov “Magic Choir”, Ekaterina Manoilo “Father Looks West”, Sasha Nikolaenko “The Ant God: Requiem”, Alexey Salnikov “Occulttraeger”.

“The short list of the award showed a wide palette of modern Russian literature quite exhaustively. It included very different things. It seems to me that we managed to avoid a taste approach to the selection of finalists and create the most objective list of the best books published recently,” said Vladimir Tolstoy, chairman of the Yasnaya Polyana Prize jury, adviser on culture to the President of the Russian Federation. To date, the Yasnaya Polyana Prize is the largest annual literary prize in Russia. The total amount of the bonus fund is 6.7 million rubles.
