Yamal Airlines intends to return three Airbus A321 aircraft to the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) ahead of schedule, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source familiar with the negotiations between the parties.
“JSC ATC Yamal has noted an interest in the early return of Airbus A321 aircraft due to their inconsistency with the airline’s current business model,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
According to information on website airline, the Yamal fleet now has 15 Sukhoi SuperJet 100-95LR aircraft, 8 Airbus A320 aircraft and 3 Airbus A321 and Bombardier CRJ-200LR aircraft each.
On July 5, STLC announced that it was forced to revise contracts and raise rates for 37 aircraft previously owned by its foreign structures and operated, including by the Aeroflot group and S7. Industry sources call the increase significant and are concerned that other Russian lessors may follow the example of STLC.
