The Wall Street Journal reports that Western officials knew that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not have enough weapons to push Russian troops out of their occupied lines.
The publication notes that the West hoped for the “courage and resourcefulness” of the Ukrainian military, but this did not happen.
The article emphasizes that if the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine finally reaches a dead end, it will cost Ukraine “life and equipment without significant progress.” At the same time, Europe does not have sufficient stocks of weapons to supply Kyiv with everything necessary. The authors of the publication believe that Europe will not go for a significant increase in assistance to Ukraine, without the enthusiasm of the United States. At the same time, the United States is already beginning to prepare for the elections, and attention is now shifting to domestic problems.
The day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that so far it has not been possible to resolve all issues with the supply of weapons necessary to continue the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
