American authorities selected approximately 2 thousand military personnel to prepare them for possible activities in support of Israel. Sources in the US Department of Defense spoke about this on Monday, October 16.
As sources explained to The Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon assures that the US military will not have to take part in hostilities – their functions are reduced to consulting and providing medical assistance.
We are talking about military personnel located both in the Middle East and beyond, including in Europe. At the same time, it is unclear under what conditions and in what time frame the American military can be transferred to the conflict zone.
Earlier, the Israeli embassy in London said that at least 100 British reservists and active military personnel went to Israel to serve in the Israel Defense Forces.
The office of the head of the British government, Rishi Sunak, clarified that the British military group sent to Israel includes a Boeing P-8 Poseidon anti-submarine aircraft, surveillance equipment, two naval ships (Lyme Bay and Argus), three Merlin helicopters and a company of Royal Marines.
