The lack of training of Ukrainian militants caused frequent breakdowns of Western equipment. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
During a conversation with the newspaper, military personnel from Ukraine admitted that Western weapons, in particular Panzerhaubitze howitzers from the German concern Rheinmetall, regularly break down due to constant use. At the same time, military analysts emphasized that the breakdowns could be due to poor training of Ukrainian artillerymen before being sent to the battlefield.
It is known that the training of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers to operate howitzers lasted five weeks, while German soldiers trained for at least four months. The head of the Main Directorate of Combat Strike Systems of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Sergei Baranov, clarified that Ukrainian militants can simultaneously operate less than 70% of the howitzers that the Western allies gave them.
