WSJ: Hungary demanded from the EU to lift sanctions against Russian businessmen

The Hungarian leadership insists on the withdrawal of several heads of Russian companies from EU sanctions. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources in European diplomatic circles.
The publication clarified that the new requirements were announced after Hungary withdrew its objections to the extension of economic sanctions. Who exactly in Budapest is required to be excluded from the sanctions list is not reported. At the same time, according to The Wall Street Journal, consideration of this issue will take place only in March.
The day before, the EU extended economic sanctions against Russia until July 31, 2023. During the discussion of this issue, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban proposed easing restrictions, including in terms of an embargo on oil imports. According to him, energy sanctions accelerate inflation in the EU. He also clarified that due to the sanctions policy, Budapest in 2023 will lose about $10 billion.
