The German investigation ruled out the initial version of Russia’s involvement in sabotage on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, Washington also does not believe in Moscow’s responsibility for damaging the pipeline, The Wall Street Journal writes, citing unnamed administration officials, acquaintances with the latest intelligence report.
The option of organizing sabotage by some Ukrainian group, not connected with the authorities in Kyiv, was considered. It is reported that the CIA already had some information about this in the summer of 2022, when the attack was just being prepared.
Then US intelligence sent information to the Federal Intelligence Service of Germany that three Ukrainian citizens could be preparing for sabotage on the Nord Stream pipeline.
It is indicated that the findings of intelligence are not final and the investigation continues.
