WP: Ukrainians are tired of the conflict with Russia and are more willing to talk about its end

Ukrainians began to get tired of the long conflict with Russia. Now they are much more willing than before to talk about its completion. Washington Post columnist David Ignatius writes about this.
According to him, last year the residents of Ukraine had excessive self-confidence. By this time they had experienced what a war of attrition was like.
Ignatius also drew attention to the fierce debate in the Verkhovna Rada over further actions. He noted that some deputies proposed abandoning territorial claims to Crimea and advocated a more realistic view of the situation at the front. At the same time, parliamentarian Alexey Goncharenko admitted that Ukraine will not be able to fight to the bitter end.
Washington Post columnist Ignatius suggested that if Ukrainians lose faith that they can withstand a long conflict, they may resort to “freezing” it under security guarantees from Washington.
