WP: EU refusal to allocate aid to Ukraine may indicate a split within the union

The failure of the European Union (EU) to allocate 50 billion euros for Ukraine speaks to a split within the union and has also renewed questions about whether Kyiv’s allies really intend to help Ukraine “as much as it takes.” This was reported by The Washington Post (WP).
It is noted that during yesterday’s summit of EU leaders, it was decided to begin negotiations on the former Soviet republic’s accession to the EU, but Hungary vetoed the allocation of assistance to Kyiv.
According to the publication, these negotiations could last for many more years. Examples were given of Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have been negotiating accession to the EU for a long time.
It is clarified that Ukraine being in a state of conflict complicates the situation with joining the association.
