Wildberries, Ozon, Yandex, Avito and SberMarket are creating an Association of Digital Platforms, reported RBC representatives of the participants of this association. As one of them clarified, the charter documents of the new organization have already been sent for registration with the Ministry of Justice. The companies hope that the association will be registered before the end of this year.

One of the publication’s interlocutors clarified that Andrei Sharonov, head of the National ESG Alliance, could become the chairman of the Association of Digital Platforms. It is expected that Yuri Bogdanovsky, executive director of expert councils under the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Business Russia, will be appointed general director.

Mr. Sharonov confirmed to RBC the information about the creation of a new association. He called its goal the development of digital platforms, “the platform economy, with particular attention to the regulation of platform employment and taxation.” “The companies that founded the association are very interested in promoting the ideas of sustainable development (in matters of packaging and reducing transport costs, and in matters of employment and remuneration, etc.),” he assured.

Wildberries founder Tatyana Bakalchuk claims that all five companies “have become very close friends this year,” and they have “joint grandiose, serious, interesting plans for the coming year.” “This is an evolutionary development… It is not forced, no one is forcing us there, we want it ourselves. We’ve just grown to the point where we think we need to try to unite and do something together,” added Ms. Bakalchuk.

Managing Director of Avito Vlad Fedulov called the creation of the association “a logical and timely step.” “Together with other companies, we will be able to develop approaches to the key issues of the industry at the moment: labor relations, tax relations, trade and harmonization of international legislation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union,” he explained.

As Mr. Fedulov clarified, the association expects to “build a constructive dialogue with the state and present its position.” A representative of Yandex said that representatives of Yandex Taxi, Yandex Market and other services that are built on the principles of a platform economy will participate in the association from their company.

Meanwhile, the boom in the increase in the number of sellers on large marketplaces is passing. The growth of new sellers began to slow down, banks working with sites found out. The observed turnaround may result in a long-term trend, experts believe. Some online retail players began to increase commissions for counterparties and reduce their support for marketing and logistics.
