The government has added several types of artificial lung ventilation devices (ventilators) to the list of goods subject to a ban on the purchase of certain types of imported industrial products. Interfax reports this with reference to a government resolution (PP).
The initial ban was introduced as part of PP No. 616. According to it, it is prohibited to purchase a number of types of industrial products of foreign origin if there are analogues of Russian production or production of EAEU countries.
The new resolution added three types of mechanical ventilation to the list of goods prohibited for purchase – for intensive care (neonatal/adult) and general purpose for intensive care. By another decree, these ventilators were excluded from the list of radio-electronic products that are subject to preferences in government procurement.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade argued that the ban on the purchase of foreign ventilators would support Russian manufacturers of medical equipment. In July, after an appeal from a number of Russian charitable foundations, the department expressed its readiness to adjust its proposal, removing from restrictions high-frequency, manual and pneumatic devices needed by patients with a number of rare diseases.
