Why do people go to new regions to work?

Russians are increasingly moving to new regions from other regions of the country, the Bank of Russia noted in the “Regional Economy” report. The reason for the flow is higher salaries compared to other Russian constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the document says. The Central Bank records a surge in internal labor migration, primarily to sectors such as construction and agriculture, and noted employment by drivers and loaders in new regions. People come to work there mainly from the Central Federal District, Siberia and southern Russia.
The regulator identified the flow of internal labor migrants through a survey of enterprises, a representative of the Bank of Russia explained to Vedomosti. They did not specify how many enterprises were surveyed.
