White House spokesman John Kirby commented at the briefing on concerns voiced by some US officials about Kyiv’s offensive strategy and the slow pace of the counteroffensive.
“You know, looking away and criticizing a partner and friend… doesn’t help,” Kirby said.
He also noted that any observer cannot but admit that now the Ukrainian troops have made progress. Kirby admitted that in some places it was slower than they wanted it to be.
He added that the US administration is now focused on ensuring that the progress of the Ukrainian forces continues, and that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the tools and training. Kirby stressed that the counteroffensive would be as fast as the Ukrainians deem necessary, and the US must provide them with everything they need.
