White House denies Biden's threats to Nord Stream

US President Joe Biden, when he announced that he would end the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, did not mean its destruction. This was stated by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

As a representative of the American administration noted, the president said that he would not allow the commissioning of the Russian gas pipeline. For this, he was going to work with Germany. In February 2022, Germany did indeed shut down the gas pipeline, so Jean-Pierre claims Biden got his way.

Earlier, former Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, after the news of the sabotage on the gas pipeline, wrote “Thank you, USA.” This circumstance allowed both Russia and a number of Western politicians to suspect Washington of being involved in sabotage on the gas pipeline. Russian officials quoted Biden as threatening to end the pipeline.
