How many Armenians could remain in Karabakh
According to a September 24 statement by NKR Presidential Advisor David Babayan, 120,000 ethnic Armenians live in the territories controlled by the unrecognized republic. According to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, there are no more than 25,000 Armenians in Karabakh. In February 2021, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that after the 2020 conflict, almost 52,000 refugees returned from Armenia to Karabakh, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers.
