What is Wild Salmon Center

The non-governmental organization Wild Salmon Center was founded in 1992 in Portland (Oregon, USA). A Russian office called the Wild Salmon Center opened in August 2000 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Works on the conservation of salmon on the Pacific coast, monitors and assesses environmental risks for wild salmon populations, and proposes the creation of protected areas. It operates in the USA, Canada, Japan and Russia.

She organized anti-poaching raids and conducted expeditions together with Moscow State University, for which she received funding through organizing fishing trips to Kamchatka. The NPO also led a campaign to protect the taimen. In 2015, she donated $30,000 to the Russian NGO Sakhalin Environmental Watch, which was recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent.
