Russian President Vladimir Putin has already been informed of the situation that is unfolding between Prigozhin and the Defense Ministry, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “President Putin has been informed of all the events around Prigozhin. The necessary measures are being taken,” the press secretary of the head of state said.
Earlier, a voice message was published on the Telegram channel of the press service of the founder of PMC Wagner, in which Prigozhin accuses the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of launching missile strikes on the rear areas where PMC fighters are located. In the next message, the head of the PMC said that 25,000 people were going to “figure out why chaos is happening in the country.” “We need to end this mess,” he said. He later released a number of threatening statements.
Then the Ministry of Defense stated that reports that the Russian Armed Forces allegedly attacked the fighters of the Wagner PMC were not true. “All the messages and video footage distributed on social networks on behalf of Yevgeny Prigozhin about the alleged “strike by the RF Ministry of Defense on the rear camps of Wagner PMCs are untrue and are an informational provocation,” the defense department stressed.
