There was nothing left before the start of the school year, and parents, who consider a good gift an alternative to a banal bouquet, were puzzled by the question: how to please teachers in the current realities? “MK” talked to teachers and gift experts and found out what is correct to give to teachers this year and what is not.

– If last winter the question “what to give you?” I would answer “only not perfumes,” but now I’ll be glad for any fragrance, ”the teacher from Volgograd Maria admits,“ The bottle that I looked at last winter and licked my lips, regretting spending three thousand (they say, somehow later), is now on sale for five. I can’t afford it with my salary, so if my parents chipped in and donated, I would be glad. Now it doesn’t matter what perfume they will give, if only something new in general. But I don’t think I would like to receive a gift card from a cosmetics store. For 2-3 thousand now you can’t buy anything decent, and if they give you a card with a larger amount, it will look like a bribe. Perfume is another matter, it is a gift from the heart and for the soul!

– Indeed, such gifts to teachers as perfumes and cosmetics sets do not look bad manners for Russians now. And even we, etiquette specialists, shrug our shoulders. Is it worth talking about the rules of decency, if there are sanctions in the yard? – Irina Nikonenko, an expert on gifts and holidays, admits. So the teacher will surely accept a bottle of perfume with gratitude.

But the etiquette specialist Uliana Ustinova spoke about perfumery as follows:

– Despite the sanctions, no one has canceled etiquette – I am always for it. If it is not recommended to give perfumes, then it is not necessary to give them. Teachers are the same people as everyone else, and smell is always very difficult to guess. Giving perfume, the smell of which will seem indecent or unpleasant to a person, you can offend him. You need to be very careful when buying perfumes: give them only if you know exactly what fragrance, what particular brand the teacher likes.

Experts spoke about original gifts for September 1, which will be both relevant and not expensive if, for example, a parent wants to make a gift to the teacher individually, from his family.

– You can present a stationery set to the teacher, for example, a desktop organizer, – says Irina Nikonenko. – A universal gift for all time – a box of chocolates and a pack of good tea. Yes, on the one hand it is banal, but such a gift will look quite presentable and sincere if it is personalized. – It will be most pleasant for a teacher to receive a personal gift that takes into account his hobby, not related to teaching, – the expert believes. – But only a person who knows the teacher well can give such a present. For example, if the teacher knits, you can donate a needlework kit. If you are an avid theatergoer, you can give two tickets for the performance, taking into account his interests.

What gifts are inappropriate and unnecessary? This was told by the teachers interviewed by MK. According to them, these are soft toys, concert or theater tickets, if a person is far from art or a homebody, an ordinary cup (they are given to teachers in large quantities), a box of chocolates from the nearest supermarket.

– Flowers and sweets are, of course, not a gift, but a sign of attention. But in some cases it is better to give flowers as a sign of attention than a gift that is far from the interests of the teacher, – states Uliana Ustinova.
