Western air defense systems will not be able to replace the Soviet ones for Ukraine

The United States may soon supply Ukraine with long-range anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) Patriot. According to CNN, citing a senior administration source, the White House’s plans to supply Kyiv with these weapons are in the final stages of approval. The supply decision must be approved by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin before lying on the table to Joe Biden. According to a CNN source, there should be no problems with this.
Kyiv needs Patriot air defense systems to more effectively combat Russian missiles that strike at Ukrainian infrastructure. Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted that the provision of Patriot systems would significantly strengthen the country’s air defense. If the decision on deliveries is made, adds CNN, then the Ukrainian army will have at its disposal the most effective long-range air defense systems of all that the West has supplied to Ukraine. Ukrainian crews for them can be trained at the US military base at Grafenwöhr in Germany.
