The West wants to interfere in the dialogue between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Denis Gonchar, director of the fourth department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with TASS.
According to him, the West carries out this activity quite persistently and plans to “squeeze out” Russia from the Transcaucasus.
“We continue to record their persistent desire to wedge into our trilateral formats with Azerbaijan and Armenia,” Gonchar said.
At the same time, the diplomat noted that the West is not interested in restoring peace and stability in the region and thinks only about reducing Russia’s influence. According to Gonchar, this is confirmed by the fact that Western representatives have never mentioned the important role of Moscow in the settlement in the Transcaucasus, as well as the importance of the agreements between Moscow, Yerevan and Baku for the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
Earlier it was reported that Yerevan and Baku have reached an agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations so far, there is no consensus on other points yet.
