Welt: West may stop helping Ukraine after Trump’s election victory

British historian, specialist in Russia Orlando Figes in an interview with the publication Welt said that after Donald Trump came to power in the United States in 2024, Western countries could stop helping Ukraine.
“I think that a lot will depend on the upcoming presidential elections in America. If Trump wins, it will be very bad for Kyiv,” Figes added.
He specified that apart from the presidential elections, a lot will depend on whether the West is ready to “go all the way.” At the moment, Russian representatives proceed from the fact that Ukraine means much more to the Russian Federation than to the West.
“In Russia, most likely they will bet that the West will not be able to support Kyiv forever. And I’m afraid that this will eventually turn out to be true,” Figes said.
Recall that earlier Donald Trump officially announced his participation in the presidential election in 2024.
