Weekly inflation in Russia slowed to 0.19%

Inflation in Russia in the week from December 6 to December 12 slowed to 0.19% after 0.58% in the last week, follows from Rosstat data.

Since the beginning of December, the price increase has amounted to 0.52%, since the beginning of the year – 11.86%.

In the segment of food products, prices for chicken eggs increased the most – by 0.7%, fish – by 0.6%, chocolates – by 0.5%, lamb – by 0.4%. At the same time, prices for buckwheat groats decreased by 1.6%, granulated sugar – by 1.4%, canned meat for baby food – by 0.8%, sunflower oil and table salt – by 0.5%, chicken meat – by 0.4%.

The increase in prices for fruits and vegetables averaged 2.7%, including 8.2% for cucumbers, 2.8% for table beets, 2.3% for carrots, 1.7% for onions, 1.7% for white cabbage and apples – 1.6%, tomatoes – 1.3%, potatoes – 1.1%, bananas – 0.5%.

Of the non-food products observed by Rosstat, matches and sanitary pads went up more than others – by 0.3%, washing powders and dry pet food – by 0.1%. Prices for toothpastes decreased by 0.4%, toothbrushes and toilet paper – by 0.2%, laundry soap – by 0.1%.

The Ministry of Economics earlier predicted inflation by the end of the year at 12.4%. A year earlier, this figure was 8.4%. It is assumed that in 2023 consumer price growth will be at the level of 5.5%, and in the future it will reach the target level of 4%. According to the results of this year, the country’s economy will contract by 2.9%, the Ministry of Economics expects, and in 2023 – already by 0.8%. In subsequent years, GDP growth is expected to be 2.6% per year.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin said earlier that a trend towards a decrease in inflation is noticeable in Russia, this trend is important not only for the Russian Federation, but also for the economies of other countries. At the same time, he noted that in all EU countries inflation rates are in double digits, and in some they “reach sky-high values ​​for the European economy.”
