Weekly deflation in Russia slowed to 0.08%

Deflation in Russia from 2 to 8 August amounted to 0.08%, follows from data Rosstat. A week earlier, deflation was 0.14%. Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices in the country have increased by 10.87%. According to the Ministry of Economy, inflation in annual terms amounted to 15.01%, a week earlier it was 15.3%.
Among food products sunflower oil fell in price – by 0.9%, buckwheat – by 0.8%, chicken eggs – by 0.5%, pasta – by 0.4%, chicken meat, sour cream, wheat flour and rice – by 0.3 %, vodka – by 0.2%, table salt – by 0.1%. The decline in food prices, according to Rosstat, is the second month in a row.
Prices for granulated sugar increased by 0.8%, mutton – by 0.7%, pork, butter and cottage cheese – by 0.2%, rennet cheeses – by 0.1%. Price reduction for fruit and vegetable products averaged 3.3%.
Among medicines the price of corvalol fell by 0.7%, allohol, ergoferon – by 0.4%, domestic analgin – by 0.2%, nimesulide – by 0.1%. Prices for rengalin rose by 0.9%, validol by 0.2%, multivitamins by 0.1%.
From non-food items essentials rose in price toilet soap – by 0.3%, toothbrushes – by 0.2%, sanitary pads and dry pet food – by 0.1%. The price of toothpastes decreased by 0.1%.
Among consumer goods prices for smartphones went up by 0.5%, domestic cars and TVs – by 0.4%, filter cigarettes – by 0.2%, shampoos – by 0.1%. Prices for motor gasoline and diesel fuel remained almost unchanged.
“In annual terms, the price growth rate continued to decline and as of August 8 amounted to 15.01% y/y,”— informs Ministry of Economy.
