The United States confirmed the absence of plans to supply F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Jake Sullivan, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, said that the position of the US administration on this issue has not changed. In response to journalists’ questions about a possible change in the US position in the light of a more favorable attitude of European countries to such deliveries to Kiev, the presidential adviser said: “I have no news today regarding the F-16.”
At the same time, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced that his country was in discussions with Britain, Denmark, “some other European countries” and the United States about the possibility of transferring F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. An “intense dialogue” is taking place, as Rutte noted.
Dmitry Kuleba, head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, said earlier that some European partners are already looking into the issue of providing Ukraine with American F-16 fighters. However, the idea received limited comment in the West, and the Ukrainian authorities acknowledged that it would be a time-consuming process.
In addition, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s office earlier announced plans to open a new training center to train Ukrainian military pilots to use Western aircraft.
