Israel received information from the US about a possible partial agreement with Iran on the nuclear program. As the Israeli portal Walla clarifies, Washington is offering Iran to freeze part of its nuclear program in exchange for a slight easing of sanctions. However, Tehran has so far rejected the proposal.
This is a new approach of the American administration to the situation around the Iranian nuclear program. The White House is discussing the idea of an interim agreement that would resemble the agreement reached in Geneva in 2013. This agreement provided for the freezing of certain aspects of the Iranian nuclear program in exchange for a partial lifting of sanctions. It was concluded for six months, but was extended several times before the signing of the full nuclear agreement in 2015. In 2018, the United States withdrew from the agreement, and Iran abandoned restrictions on nuclear research, centrifuges and the level of uranium enrichment.
