Washington explained the refusal to supply Kyiv with longer-range weapons

The United States is not supplying Ukraine with longer-range weapons because of a desire to avoid further escalation of the conflict, John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, told reporters.
“We have been very consistent about this… We have also stated – and not justified for this – our fears that we do not want further escalation in this war, beyond the violence that the Ukrainians and Ukraine as a country have already experienced.” , – leads his words TASS.
Kirby also added that Washington “literally every day” works with Ukraine to resolve issues related to its defense capabilities.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals.
In response, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia and began to provide military assistance to Ukraine. Military assistance from Western countries to Ukraine in total reached $40 billion, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said November 30.
At the same time, the Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. Back in April, Moscow sent a note of protest to all countries, including the United States, over military aid to Ukraine.
In September, information appeared about Kyiv’s intention to request from Washington, among other things, long-range ATACMS missiles. After that, the Russian Foreign Ministry declaredthat the supply of such weapons capable of hitting Russian cities would mean “direct involvement of the United States in a military confrontation with Russia.”
