Ukrainians who have settled in Wales will start paying for part of their meals and laundry services starting from the New Year. The Welsh decided to resort to such measures for the speedy integration of refugees into society. The innovations were reported by the Wales Online edition.
They will affect migrants living in temporary housing in Wales for five or more weeks. Now about one and a half thousand Ukrainians are settled in hotels and recreation centers. Under the new rules, migrants can now only twice refuse to move to long-term housing. If they refuse again, they will have to bear part of the cost of living.
According to the Welsh government, such steps will encourage refugees to move to private housing. Now, according to unconfirmed reports, some Ukrainians, under plausible pretexts, are refusing such accommodation.
Earlier, the intention to change the conditions of assistance to Ukrainian migrants was announced in Poland. Abuse of the social insurance system among migrants pushed local authorities to take decisive steps there.
